The moment when he saw his family leave

Usually, pet adoption stories are the kind of news that brighten your day and remind you that there’s still some good left in this world. Unfortunately, the most recent news in the realm of rescue dogs is about as heartbreaking as it gets. Zuzu, a dog at a rescue shelter, is shown barking with excitement in this viral video as she sees her former owners on the other side of the fence. However, the family have not come to pick her up – they’ve come to get another dog, leaving their old pet behind, having apparently grown tired of her.

The clip was shared by Desi Lara, a volunteer at Downey Animal Care Center in Los Angeles, who wrote that the dog “With her fast wagging tail, seeing her owners, Zuzu lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked like the happiest dog. Yeah she’s going home.” But no!!! Then the unthinkable happened. They weren’t there for Zuzu. “Talking to her owners they told me they were not here to reclaim her, they were getting another pet,” Lara said.

A real heartbreak!

Zuzu’s father … had just passed away and Zuzu was crying and heartbroken. She escaped her family’s yard and hopped the wall and got into her neighbour’s yard. The unhappy neighbour called animal control and she ended up here. And her owners were going to let her stay here. Their reason was because she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore. Their solutions for her unhappiness was just leaving her here – and go get another dog. A heartbreaking video that shows the abandoned pet being rejected by his former owners.
