174 Adorable Dogs Run To Safety During Fire Drill Exercise – They Just Keep COMING!

174 Adorable Dogs Run To Safety! (Video)

In light of the deadly wildfires burning across large swaths of California, knowing what to do in the event of such emergencies is always of utmost importance. But humans aren’t the only ones brushing up on their preparedness skills, we must work to prepare our loved ones and furry friends as well. A group of adorable service dogs at one training facility was recently given a refresher course on just what to do in case disaster strikes.

Guiding Eyes for the Blind is a New York-based nonprofit that specializes in shaping dogs into perfect companions for people with visual impairments. The group’s training schools are host to well over 100 eager pups — and keeping them safe from harm is the upmost priority. Imagine a roaring fire takes hold in a kennel that houses lots of canines. The staff need to clear all of the dogs out as soon as possible. But even more important is evacuating the dogs as speedily as they can. In the event of a fire, the staff needs to be able to clear the kennel of any dogs before fire trucks arrive (the response time as a volunteer firefighting department is approximately four minutes).

They know how to react, that’s for sure!

But pulling that off takes practice. So, last week, the dogs partook in a fire drill, escaping from their kennel into a communal area out back. It was a potentially lifesaving exercise, but the dogs clearly had a blast, taking the opportunity to enjoy a little impromptu recess outside all together. One member of the staff kept the door open while the dogs, the majority Labradors and German Shepherds, ran through the doorway out into the yard area. Best of all, however — the pups hit their mark. They completed the drill of clearing all 174 dogs and all staff members from the building in 3 minutes and 8 seconds. Watch the service dogs complete the fire drill perfectly and adorably!

The dogs just keep on coming!

A fantastic team effort! Certainly, the service dogs all had a marvellous, fun time during this drill exercise.
