Emotional reunion (Video)

Any story of an abandoned dog is a tragedy, but it becomes even more heartbreaking when the circumstances include unborn puppies and a struggling mama barely able to survive. But a mother’s instinct is strong, whether the mom is human or animal. This mama dog was abandoned by her owner just as she was going into labor. She was malnourished and her fur was completely matted, so her pups were having a hard time finding her nipples to nurse. Without Asha being able to give her puppies the nourishment they needed, the worst would have happened.

Luckily, though, for every callous person who could do this to an animal, there are kind people who do their best to help them.  Bill Foundation received a plea for help about a mama Shih Tzu that had been dumped at East Valley Shelter and gave birth shortly afterward. So Bill Foundation stepped in to save this mama and her babies. The first thing they did was to shave off all of Asha’s extra fur and clean her up so she could breastfeed her puppies. It took over 90 minutes to shave her — but only moments for her to begin providing her babies with the nourishment they needed to thrive. After the haircut, Asha was reunited with her puppies.

The end makes me so happy

The second she sees her puppies again, it’s clear she’s overcome by emotion and is eager to nurse and care for her babies. They began breastfeeding and their mother seemed overjoyed to finally be able to nurse them properly. This is a must-see…such an uplifting story of survival and kindness!
