Every pet deserves our love and affection. The most touching thing you’ll see all day, it should make us see every animal companion as a new member of the family, not just a simple toy we play with — and then discard the second we get bored with or inconveniences us in the slightest. This short video shows this idea as it really is, and as it should be seen by everyone. Many pets are abandoned by people every day around the world and we hope with this clip we can raise awareness and give these wonderful animals a stable and loving home.

Every summer an estimated 100,000 domestic animals are abandoned in France by owners who say they are unable to take them along or find someone to look after them. A new campaign from France tackling the growing number of abandoned dogs has made the entire internet reach for a collective tissue. Launched by French animal welfare group, Foundation 30 Million D’Amis (30 Million Friends), the video is a harrowing re-enactment of a loyal dog left behind by its human.

The video begins with a dog at his owner’s side in the hospital. Through flashbacks we learn the owner had driven his dog to a remote area, ordered him to stay, and then drove off. When he spots the dog in his rear view mirror running after his car he has an accident — and guess who saves him? Pet owners have been leaving their pets behind in parks when they take summer holidays in lieu of paying for them to stay at kennels. Watch the video, it’s deliberately extreme and totally over the top, it’s worth every dramatic second!

If it means that even a handful of dog owners think twice before abandoning their pets in remote locations then we guess it’s worth every dramatic second.
