We all know dogs are the best, but that doesn’t mean they never surprise us in new ways. And it turns out they aren’t just man’s best friend, they’re best friends with anything that breathes! When you see a golden retriever it’s not often that “sheep dog” comes to mind but this lovely golden lady has taken it upon herself to guard this little lamby. When Niuniu the golden retriever met Liuyi the lamb, she was smitten with the fluffy white bundle. She immediately took it upon herself to care and look after the sweet little lamb. Dog’s caretaking instincts kicked in. Mothering instincts are strong in female animals, and without puppies of her own to care for, Liuyi got the benefit of Niuniu’s love.

She plays with, cuddles, and watches over her lamb friend as if she were part of her pack. She even feeds the baby her bottle, caring for her as tenderly as if she were her own puppy. The two are adorable as they snuggle and play in the house and outside. They do everything together including going to the beach where Niuniu likes to perch on some rocks and gaze out at the ocean while the little lamb plays in the sand. Right now the adorable lamb relies on her friend to keep her safe and warm and to be a fun playmate but as she grows up and transforms into a full-grown sheep, the two will surely remain inseparable and best friends for life!

It’s not every day that you see a golden sheepdog but Niuniu has proved to be just the perfect guardian for her tiny flock of one. We’re just glad they met.
