He wasn’t expecting anyone to notice that act of kindness (Video)

In times of pandemic, seeing people’s solidarity calms our hearts. Fernando Gabriel and his brother, Felipe, were about to ride the subway. When Felipe went to purchase the tickets, however, someone caught his eye. In the southern hemisphere, it’s now winter and in recent days São Paulo, Brazil, has recorded the coldest temperatures of the year. “He saw a dog shivering in the cold,” said Gabriel. 

“We are from Guarujá (SP) and we were going to 25 de Março street. I saw the dog on the ground, shivering, it was a very cold day in the city. Then my first reaction was to take off my t-shirt and give it to him”, said Felipe. The scene took place inside the Jabaquara station. His brother, didn’t seem to believe it. “I noticed my brother taking his backpack off his back and took off his jacket, sweatshirt and put his shirt on the puppy who was very cold in front of the ticket office line. He did it spontaneously. It was very moving.” said Gabriel.

He regrets not being able to do more for the dog

Felipe says he is surprised with the repercussion. He wasn’t expecting anyone to notice that act of kindness. Later on, while passing through the station again on their return trip, Felipe and his brother looked for the dog with the intention of taking him home with them. But by then, the pup had moved on — a little warmer, no doubt, thanks to the shirt, and the love shown to him. Felipe regrets not being able to do more for the dog that day, but that he still hopes others might take inspiration to help others like him. “There is no way to change the world — but for the things in your reach, you can,” he said.
