Dog abandoned at the side of the road (Video)

The RSPCA has released “heartbreaking” video of a dog being abandoned at the roadside. The footage captured on CCTV in Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, UK, shows a man leaving the passenger side of the car carrying a dog bed and leading a white and black Staffie, nicknamed Snoop by his rescuers. The pup was cruelly abandoned by his owners.  

The white dog was found sitting in the bed by a passer-by during the following hour and was taken to a vet, who called the RSPCA. A man crosses the road, leaving a bed on the pavement and unclipping the lead, before running back to the car and driving away, while the distressed dog repeatedly jumps up at the window. To see the poor dog in such obvious distress, jumping up at the car as it drives away, is just heartbreaking. I can’t understand how someone could do this.” animal welfare officer Natalie Perehovsky said about the incident. The vets scanned his microchip and we have traced two previous owners in the Birmingham area, but do not believe either are the current owners, and therefore not those responsible for abandoning the dog.

Dog desperately tries to get back in car

We are so thankful to the kind people who found Snoop sitting sadly in his bed, for taking him to the safety of a vet’s straight away. Poor Snoop, who initially appears to have thought his owners were playing a game with him, tried desperately to get back in the car, even chasing after it as they tried to drive away. One man can be seen clearly in the footage dumping the dog, and there is a second person in the driver’s seat of the car. Watch the video, the footage has to be seen to be believed.
