Dramatic Moment – Man Saves Neighbor’s Dog After Leash Gets Stuck in Elevator Door

A quick-thinking man in Texas rescued his neighbor’s dog from a horrible accident when the dog’s leash got caught in an elevator door. He took neighborly duties to a whole new level. Johnny Mathis, 27, of Houston, was coming home after work and had just parked in his apartment complex’s underground garage. Mathis said that he took the elevator up to his floor and, as soon as he got off,  a woman accompanied by her dog were trying to get on. He said: “When she got on, I was looking at the dog, because it was a cute dog. I noticed the leash was kinda long but I didn’t think it wasn’t going to make it on the elevator or anything.”

What happened next would have thousands of people calling him a hero. Security footage from the Houston apartment building captured the heroic moment Mathis rescued the small dog from a dark fate. The woman successfully makes it onto the lift, but her dog seems to momentarily hesitate and doesn’t get on in time. After a quick backward glance, Mathis noticed the dog’s leash was caught inside the elevator, and he ran toward the animal as its neck was being tugged when the elevator started to move. Mathis rushes over to the dog and desperately tries to free the dog from its leash in time

“I just happened to turn around as the door closed and it started to lift off the ground I got the leash off in time. There was so much fur, that’s why it took me a bit to get that lever off of the collar and when I did, I let go, you could see that leash just shoot off to the top of the elevator.” Mathis said as soon as the elevator doors shut, the owner could be heard crying and hysterically panicking. Watch the video, after struggling for a few heart-stopping moments, Mathis frees the Pomeranian dog from its leash immediately coddles the pup in his arms.
