Man Moving Into A New House Finds A Dog Left Behind In The Basement – Touching Moment
Dog’s reaction says it all (Video)
When a new homeowner took a tour of his recently purchased property, he found something he wasn’t expecting. There are many things one might expect to find upon moving into a new place. A dog isn’t one of them. The St. Louis resident opened the door to his new basement, but a pair of eyes kept him from going down the stairs. With help from a flashlight, the man saw a mostly white dog standing at the bottom of the stairs. It had a chain around its neck and was clearly abandoned.
Not knowing how long the dog had been down there, the homeowner called Stray Rescue of St. Louis. They received a call unlike any other: “I just bought a house and there is a pit bull chained up in the basement. I’m not sure how long it’s been down there.” Rescuers rushed to the house hoping they weren’t too late. “When we opened the door to the basement and shined our flashlight down, we saw a wagging tail. She was nearly choking herself as she was so excited to see us. When we freed her, she couldn’t stop jumping up and down and giving hugs.” said Natalie Thomson, the group’s communications director.
Chained up alone in a basement
The dog was ecstatic to see them, jumping on her new friends over and over. Her exuberant behavior earned her the name “Jumping Bean,” and rescuers wasted no time in getting her out of her dark prison. Jumping Bean was brought to the shelter to be checked by a vet. Despite everything she’d been through, she was extremely friendly! After freeing the dog from the basement, they went down to see how the poor thing had been living. The chain was very short, and there was a lot of poop meaning that she’d been down there for a while. Just how anyone could leave a dog as pretty as that one chained up alone in a basement is anyone’s guess. There was no bowl of water or food left out for her.
