Watch this heroic man dive into the ocean! (Video)

It’s certainly not every day that a casual visit to the beach ends up in life-saving mission – but that is exactly what happened on Jensen Beach in Florida … and luckily, it was all caught on video. When three men were fishing at the beach, they noticed a different kind of fish struggling at the shoreline – it was a shark! “Myself and two of my buddies were at the beach fishing for jacks and blue fish while we saw a shark struggling in the surf,” the man describes. “We realized it was wrapped around something and ran to see if we could help.”

Unwilling to watch the shark struggle, the men rushed to see if they could help. In an act of bravery, one of them jumped into the water and dragged the shark to land. The friends approached the creature and found that it was tangled in fishing wire with a hook in its mouth. “At this point my buddy Adam jumped into the water to rescue the blacktip shark,” the Good Samaritan says. “We then got the fishing line unwrapped from around the body and took the hook out of its jaw. Adam then released the shark and it swam off to live another day.” It’s amazing to see how fast they jumped into action and rescued the shark!

An act of bravery!

What happened to the Jansen Beach’s shark is a great example of the horrible phenomenon of “by-catch”. Every year, millions of marine animals like sharks, dolphins, whales, and turtles become tangled in ghost nets and lines that are left behind by the commercial fishing industry. This shark was lucky to encounter people kind enough to risk saving him, but this is sadly not usually the case. Watch the video, what this man did was heroic, but also very dangerous – for him and the shark!
