Owner Drags Scared Dog To The Shelter By a Rope To Leave Her Behind For Good
Family drags scared dog into shelter (Video)
Contrary to popular belief, owning a pet is not a right, but a privilege. Animals are living, breathing creatures who feel pain and joy as much as we do, and if we choose to adopt, we must adopt responsibly. However, sometimes circumstances change. We may find ourselves in a position in which we are no longer able to care for them. Then, we must find a way to find them a new home responsibly. Of course, there are always cases in which owners are simply irresponsible and don’t care for their pets and neglect them.
A dog named Maya was dragged into a Texas animal shelter on a rope by her family members. She was so reluctant to walk to the shelter door that one of her family members had to pick up the terrified dog and carry her inside. Someone witnessed this and filmed the whole thing down in a video. She’s visibly terrified and doesn’t want to go inside. From the video, it was evident that Maya was extremely fearful from her body language and whining. She probably knew what was happening to her at that time. Since the video was posted on social media, it’s been widely shared, and people have been outraged by the treatment of the animal. However, we must remember that, while it’s sad that this dog had to go back to a shelter, we don’t know the circumstances that led to her owners relinquishing her.
Maya wouldn’t be scared and lonely for long
However, luckily enough for this pup, the video caught the attention of a woman named Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock in New York , who saw the pain the dog was in. Silverstein immediately contacted the shelter to release Maya to their care, which was successful. Maya’s future changed completely that day. She was taken to an animal hospital in Houston where she got treated for heartworm and got all of her shots to make the trip to New York City. She’s still an anxious pup, but with the love and the affection of her caretakers, she’s been slowly recovering from the ordeal. She can even go on a walk on a leash, even though it still may be uncomfortable at times. Watch the video, thankfully, Maya is well on her way to finding her forever home and a loving family!
Pet owners may be outraged by this video, but what’s important is that Maya is healthy and has a bright future ahead of her.
