Heartwarming moment (Video)

When rescuers discovered Georgia living in a gas station near the U.S.-Mexico border, nobody knew she was pregnant. However, it quickly became clear that the Australian Shepherd mix was born to be a mom. When the dog went into premature labor, rescuers from Sunshine Dog Rescue rushed her to the hospital, where doctors performed an emergency c-section. Unfortunately, she lost her three puppies. 

The most heartbreaking part was how Georgia kept looking for her puppies, clearly not understanding they had all passed away. “I’ve never had a mom dog lose a whole litter before,” Sunshine Dog Rescue’s founder, said Anita Osa. “The best way I could describe it was she was frantic. It was so sad, she was looking for those babies. She tore up the toddler mattress we had her on, trying to find her babies.” Georgia was grieving her puppies terribly when she met her new “babies.” The rescue organization took in three motherless newborn kittens, desperate for a mother’s love, and introduced them to the pup. Georgia was instantly smitten.

 She got a second chance at motherhood

“I introduced them to her gently,” said Osa. “I first bought one out and let her sniff it, and she seemed to accept it, so I brought the others out. It’s amazing to see how she instantly calmed down.” Georgia took to the kittens and loved on them day and night. She snuggled them and treated them just like they were her own babies. It was almost like it was fate that the mom and babies would find one another. She definitely made room in her heart for these sweet kittens. Not only have they received excellent care from the rescue center, they’ve had an adoptive mother to take care of them and help them grow strong.
