He manage to gain the trust of the dog (Video)

The best veterinarians have an innate understanding of what makes animals tick. When combined with lots of patience and a gentle touch, there’s no creature they can’t help! A video of Rhode Island-based veterinarian Dr. Thomas Hamilton, or Dr. Tom, is going viral for all the right reasons.

In it, Dr. Tom meets a new patient for the first time, and the mixed breed dog is absolutely terrified. The clip opens to show the doctor sitting on a chair in front of a very scared dog sitting on one corner of a room. The doctor, to make his patient comfortable, starts talking to it in a slow and calm manner. The shy pup crouches in the corner and refuses to budge, so Dr. Tom decides to get right down on the floor and find a way to gain the dog’s trust. He starts with treats — always a good place to begin with dogs — and progresses to gentle petting and coaxing to get the pooch out of the corner.

Sweet moment

By the end of the video, the pup is fully in the vet’s lap enjoying a head rub. “His whole body just went limp,” Dr. Tom said with a laugh. Dr. Tom is a wonderful example for other vets.
