Vet jumps out of car to rescue dog (Video)

Sometimes, it takes a little bravery in order to do the right thing. In Ovidiu Rosu’s case, it took a lot more than just bravery. In this video, the vet was driving on a highway in Bucharest, Romania, and spots something very odd by the median. When he pulls over, the person he’s driving with, started recording to capture his bold moves. Ovidiu walks down the middle of the highway, holding onto the guardrail as he goes. A few feet away lies an abandoned dog, scared for her life. Ovidiu makes it his personal mission to get her out of there safely.

He knows he needs to get closer, so he lifts his left leg over the median. He slowly inches down the guardrail toward the terrified dog as she sits frozen with fear. Eventually, she takes a few steps in his direction, and he kneels down as traffic speeds past them on both sides. He tries to gain her trust and strokes the homeless dog’s fur. He and the helpless canine form a bond that changes everything. Ovidiu completes the dog rescue by picking her up and safely running back across the highway when the time is right.

“The hardest part was to gain her trust as I approached her, the last thing I wanted was for her to get scared and run in front of traffic,” he explained. “Luckily, I managed to approach her quite easily. She really is a lovely dog.” He named the stray Berta, and was able to care for her at his house until he found a forever home for the pup. And while they’ve found many potential adopters for the pup, Rosu said, “I will be sad to see her go.”  Watch the video, he put his life in danger to save this adorable little dog.
