A powerful moment!

This is the tear-jerking moment a grandfather gets a puppy after losing his wife of 63 years. The adorable pup was bought by Davy Vanhaesendonck as a present for his grandfather to help with his grieving process after losing both the love of his life and his previous dog within three months.

The family, believed to be from Belgium, wanted to show the elderly man how he was “not alone” and “surrounded by the best friends and family”. In the clip, Davy said: “As most of you already know we have lost someone very special last week – especially our grandfather… we have planned a surprise for him on this sunny day… a puppy, a little friend! To give him energy and the courage to continue his life.”

In the heartwarming video the family can be seen driving to his house as they explain how their beloved grandfather lost his wife of 63 years. As they walk into the house the man’s young granddaughter, Lisa, gives him the tiny Yorkshire terrier, named Snoopy, and when he hands him the new dog, he instantly bursts into tears and starts stroking his new best friend. The tears of emotion are so real and powerful. This video made me cry not just out of sadness but out of happiness for this man who clearly has a family that loves him very very much.
