Woman Filmed Snatching Bird From Park And Putting It In Plastic Bag!

Woman filmed snatching bird! (Video)

The video, which was taken in Washington Square Park, Philadelphia, and posted on social media by a NBA Shooting Coach and his girlfriend, has caused global outrage. A woman began snatching birds in the park before putting them alive into plastic bags with their wings still frantically flapping.

You can see the woman with a very calm-looking man, attracting the small birds with breadcrumbs before slowly moving her arm closer to them, before quickly reaching out to grab one. Chris explained what happened: “Me and my girlfriend were in Washington Square Park, Philadelphia when we saw the woman capturing birds. We started filming as soon as we realised what was happening. Honestly, we just couldn’t believe what we were seeing! We were in such shock that someone would capture the birds in broad daylight, that we began recording.  We were not only concerned for the well-being of the birds, but we were also concerned about the children in the park that were witnessing this happening. This is certainly not something we’ve ever seen before.”

“Hunting, trapping, or chasing wildlife is strictly prohibited.”

The pair reported the couple to park rangers who approached the couple and made them aware that catching birds is illegal. Upon questioning, one of them said that they were feeding the birds, while the other stated that they caught a bird earlier but released it. The US National Park Service are investigating the incident.  Officials said they had never seen anything like it and the duo could be charged under the Game and Wildlife Code. They risk being slapped with a summary violation which usually results in a fine. Watch the video, they had a well-honed technique but they got caught!

Some cultures consider small wild birds as a delicacy, although sparrows are not generally eaten.

Nationwide park rules state that “hunting, trapping, or chasing wildlife is strictly prohibited”.
