Heartwarming Moment – Gorilla Tenderly Kisses Her Newborn Baby Moments After Birth

Heart melting footage (Video)

The incredible bond between a first-time mum and her newborn infant just seconds after birth has been captured on camera. Footage from the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC shows the sweet moment mum Calaya gives her son Moke. It turns out humans and primates have the same reaction to becoming overwhelmed with love when giving birth to a baby.

It was the first time in nine years a gorilla has given birth at the zoo with officials capturing the moment on film and sharing it on social media and their website. She was filmed staring at her firstborn son and repeatedly kissing him on the lips as she cradled him. The little baby is so tiny in Calaya’s huge hands, and she is so motherly in handling him just as any human mom would. Staff biologists can be heard saying “good girl, good girl” to Calaya in emotional voices as they allowed her to give birth unassisted.

Her reaction upon her baby’s delivery was so touchingly beautiful

Calaya is 15 and her baby was named Moke , which means junior or little one in Lingalan – the native language of the Democratic Republic of Congo. She was so taken with her new baby boy that she couldn’t help but cradle the little one in her arms and raise him up to her face to give him plenty of adoring kisses. Watch the video, the best medicine in the world is a mother’s kiss.
